Development Coordinator and Operations Manager
Spring Grove, VA
About Us
Nestled in the heart of Surry County, Virginia, Camp Idlewild has been a place where young people encounter Christ and build lifelong memories for more than 50 years. What makes Idlewild beloved isn’t extravagant facilities or a picture-perfect setting, it’s the spirit of community and the relationships nurtured here.
Since its founding in the early 1960s, when the Menzel family generously donated about 80 acres of farmland and forest, Idlewild has grown into a ministry dedicated to joy, fellowship, and faith. Generations of campers and staff have left with hearts full of gratitude, friendships that endure, and experiences that shape their lives.
The camp is overseen by a Virginia non-stock corporation with 501(c)(3) status formed to steward the property, with membership drawn from individuals and congregations of Churches of Christ across eastern and central Virginia. Together, they continue to uphold the vision of Camp Idlewild: a place where love, faith, and community flourish.
